Mammoth Mountain, California, USA.
This shot was taken in freezing cold conditions on a road trip that took me from Arizona all the way up to San Francisco. It was the dead of night and we were car camping close to Mammoth Lakes. The air was crystal clear and there was just enough moonlight to illuminate the distant mountains (that I could only just pick out with the naked eye). I'm always drawn to deserted highways, so this was a perfect opportunity to set up the tripod and fire off a few long exposures. It wasn't until I saw the image back in the camera that I realised there was snow on the mountains!
This image also comes with an embedded soundtrack. Later this year I will be launching an App that will trigger this 'hidden' content thanks to image recognition software, making it not just a cool piece of decor for the home, but a proper conversation starter.
